Nu är det ett år sedan domen föll mot The Pirate Bay. Man skulle kunna säga att det var en dom mot bättre vetande och ett slag mot ekonomisk utveckling. Du ska strax få en förklaring.
Vi är många som initierat argumenterat för ett mer öppet förhållningssätt till fildelning. Argumenten förefaller självklara och aptitliga för den som tror på nytänkande och utveckling.
Nu har US Government Accountability Office kommit ut med en rapport precis lagom till årsdagen. Rapporten kan enkelt sammanfattas ”Piratkopiering påverkar ekonomin positivt”.
While experts and literature we reviewed provided different examples of effects on the U.S. economy, most observed that despite significant efforts, it is difficult, if not impossible, to quantify the net effect of counterfeiting and piracy on the economy as a whole.
…that effects of piracy within the United States are mainly redistributions within the economy for other purposes and that they should not be considered as a loss to the overall economy. He stated that “the money does not just vanish; it is used for other purposes.”
Jag vill inte våldföra mig på rapporten och säkert säga att ekonomin enbart påverkas positivt, men onekligen är det fastställt att ekonomin inte nödvändigtvis påverkas negativt.
Sannolikt är det så att de osunda krafterna hämmar inte bara utveckling utan med all säkerhet också ekonomin. The Pirate Bay representerar alltså inte bara teknisk utveckling och framsynthet utan också ekonomisk utveckling – morgondagens hjältar.
H Pontén med flera företrädare för medlemsbolagen av producenter och distributörer av bio- och videofilm i Sverige gör alltså samhället en stor, riktigt stor, otjänst när de begränsar distribution.
